Lynda S. Robinson (aka Suzanne Robinson) is the author of novels in two widely varying
genres-mystery and historical romance. Taking advantage of her background in ancient
cultures, she writes in periods extending from ancient Egypt to the Victorian period.
She has a doctoral degree in anthropology with a specialty in the subdiscipline of
archaeology from the University of Texas at Austin. She has done field work in both
the Middle East and the United States, as well as museum research and work in exhibits
of ancient art. Her first novel, Heart of the Falcon, a historical romance set
in ancient Egypt, was published in 1990 by Bantam Books and was republished in 1997.
Her first mystery was published by Walker & Company (February, '94). Set in ancient Egypt, Murder in the Place of Anubis received a starred review from Publishers Weekly (January 3, 1994). Called an "exceptional debut", "riveting" and "a memorable tale", Murder in the Place of Anubis also received excellent response from Kirkus Reviews, Bookline, and Mystery News, to name a few. Robinson's second mystery novel, Murder at the God's Gate (February '95) again received rave reviews from Publishers Weekly and the New York Times Book Review, among others. The first four books in the Lord Meren series are published in paperback by Ballantine. The first book (January, '95) is now in a third paperback printing. Her third mystery, Murder at the Feast of Rejoicing (February, '96) earned a third starred review from Publishers Weekly and yet another rave review from the New York Times Book Review as well as critical acclaim in many of the major U.S. newspapers. Robinson is excited at the enthusiastic response to her novels and is please that the fourth Lord Meren novel, Eater of Souls, has gained her fourth starred review in a row from Publishers Weekly. Again acclaimed by the New York Times Book Review for Eater of Souls, she has recently signed with Mysterious Press/Warner to do the fifth Lord Meren book, Drinker of Blood, in hardback and paperback. Robinson is especially gratified that her mysteries have won the acclaim of Egyptologists for their accuracy and authentic portrayal of life in ancient Egypt. Robinson is also the author of ten historical romance novels for Bantam Books. Among these are Lady Gallant, Lady Dangerous, Lord of the Dragon and The Engagement. Both a popular and critical success in this field, Robinson publishes these novels under her middle name, Suzanne. Praised for her complex, intriguing plots, unique characterization and historical authenticity, Robinson has been called "an author of star quality" and "spectacularly talented". She has recently signed a contract with Bantam for several more books. Robinson was born in Texas and lives there in the south central hill country with her husband. |
